Just Announced: WDAS’ Women of Excellence Luncheon, Foreign Exchange, A Dilla Tribute & The Morehouse College Glee Club

WDAS will be presenting their Second Annual Women of Excellence Luncheon on Saturday, April 2nd at First District Plaza (3801 Market Street). The radio station will be honoring Queen of High Notes and Sweet Potato Pie Patti Labelle with their 2016 Trailblazing Woman of Excellence Award. The event will also feature performances from some Anderson Street faves: After 7, Lalah Hathaway, and Avant. Tickets for the event are available now.

Our favorite Twitter personality Phonte and his band Foreign Exchange will be performing at Philly’s Union Transfer on May 15. In case you missed, our friend Eric Roberson named their latest release Tales from the Land of Milk and Honey to his list of favorites of 2015. If an Erro cosign isn’t a enough of reason for you to purchase a ticket, we don’t know what is. Tickets are available now.

We’ve all seen School Daze right? And remember that scene featuring the song “I’m Building Me A Home?” The Philadelphia Morehouse College Alumni Association will be bringing the Morehouse College Glee Club, the voices behind that powerful song, to town on Wednesday, March 12th at the African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas. Proceeds from the concert will support local students who are currently enrolled at the college. Tickets can be purchased here. (Shameless plug: Our Creative Director Evon Burton is a proud Morehouse Man.)

Johnny Brenda’s and Flygirrl will be presenting The Kings Court: A J Dilla Tribute on Monday, April 18th. The tribute concert will feature Dilla’s former band Slum Village, Guilty Simpson, Phat Kat, and Black Milk. Get your ticket now!
